Rob Beckett joins the BBC Radio 2 family with a new Sunday show

There are some changes coming to Sunday afternoons on Radio 2. Paul O’Grady will now present his 5:00 to 7:00 pm show in two runs of thirteen weeks across the year, and from Sunday 20th February to Sunday 15th May, Rob Beckett will present a new series in the slot.

Rob is already familiar to Radio 2 listeners as he has deputised for Claudia Winkleman on Saturdays, and hosted the Bees in a Pod podcast on BBC Sounds last year as part of Radio 2’s Big Bee Challenge. Each Sunday Rob will test his theories and share his thoughts as he looks forward to the week ahead, whilst playing tracks to send listeners skipping into their Sunday nights. Rob will be squeezing the last drops of fun from the weekend and collecting positive energy to help launch listeners into Monday in the best possible mood.

Rob says: ‘I cannot wait to start my new Sunday series on Radio 2. As someone that has inhuman levels of energy, I’m incredibly grateful and excited that the BBC are letting me loose on the airwaves to try and pump up anyone feeling the end-of-weekend blues. Whether your football team lost, your plans got cancelled, or you burnt your roast dinner, we will put a smile on your face -and if you’re already smiling, then expect a full Cheshire Cat grin.’
