Second Book Deal For Daniel Foxx With Fairytales for Privileged Children
Off The Kerb are delighted to announce that Monoray, an imprint of Octopus Books, has acquired Fairytales for Privileged Children: Little Red Riding Hood Blows Her Trust Fund & Other Premium Tales, the second ‘wickedly funny and razor-sharp’ collection of stories from author and comedian Daniel Foxx.
In Fairytales for Privileged Children, Daniel reworks classic fairytales to suit only the most comfortable of tots. Meet: Rapunzel, whose stay in a boutique tower-concept hotel is just the ticket. Aspiring gourmand Jack, who sensibly exchanges his cow for a handful of 100% organic legumes. The two ugly stepsisters, Porchetta and Frankette, whose deep-plane facelifts yield excellent results. And The Three Little Pigs, whose property portfolio is – quite frankly – booming.
Commissioning Editor, Mala Sanghera-Warren says of the acquisition: ‘Working on this book means I’m frequently found cackling at my desk. Daniel is a dream author and his latest book is every bit as wonderful as his first, a brilliant riff on classic fairytales.’
Foxx added: ‘There is currently a serious lack of representation in the fairytale canon for children of the wildly, unfathomably rich. This book is my attempt to redress that, and finally give 0.1% toddlers the chance to be seen. I hope that, somewhere out there, a young billionaire is read one of these stories by their second nanny and thinks “Maybe… just maybe, I could tyrannise some woodland animals one day.”‘
The book is set to publish on the 24th September 2026. Pre-order your copy here.
Daniel is on tour with his brand-new standup show How Lovely. More information and tickets available here.
